Huambo - At least 217 different infractions were detected over the last few days in central Huambo province, the National Economic Inspection and Food Security Authority (ANIESA) has announced.
ANIESA said this was during the inspection of the price on the basic food basket started in November, 2022, running until January, 2023, as part of the festive season.
The campaign is meant to combat the speculation of prices on staple foods in central Huambo province to ensure the economic and financial stability among families during the festive period (Christmas and New Year's Eve) , said the coordinator of ANIESA in Huambo province, Inocência Figueiredo.
Inocência Figueiredo told the press Tuesday that the violations stemmed from the inspection of 50 local economic operators, including wholesalers, retailers and some industrial units that produce consumer goods.
Of the infractions registered, she added, four resulted in fines, described as hazardous to health and wellbeing of citizens.
Among the infringements, the official mentioned the lack of pricing structure, the commercial licence, cleanliness and hygiene, product acquisition invoices, poor maintenance and tidiness, the certificate of habitability and the sale of expired products.
ANIESA was created in 2020 through Presidential Decree 267/20, of 16 October.
ANIESA is a result of a merger of inspections of Trade and Industry, Tourism, Environment, Health, Transport, Agriculture and Fishing, and is focused on inspecting the country's economic activities.
