Luanda – Angola attends via webinar in the Vth Edition of the World Investor Week to be held from 4 to 9 October, under the motto "Sustainable Finance and the Protection of Investors against Fraud and Scams".

The event, in which the Capital Market Commission (CMC) is the Regional Coordinator for Africa, is an initiative designed by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) with the aim of promoting the World Investor Week to other Regulatory Authorities of the African continent, coordinating regional actions through webinars and a virtual fair.

According to CMC Executive Director, Emílio Longa, the event also aims to promote a culture of investment among economic agents, students and society in general, and to improve financial literacy levels through webinars.

“We’ll have, among other things, debate panels, interviews and other recreational activities aimed at savings and investment, to interactively disseminate content of interest related to the Securities Market”, he said.

Parallel to these activities, he mentioned, are also planned sessions for debate and dissemination of content about the Security Market on radio, television and CMC social networks, displaying messages on financial education throughout the Network of multimedia library in Angola.

He added that a survey will be carried out on the level of financial literacy and the profile of the investor, the launch of the Investor's Pocket Book, advertising in collective taxis, a competition on finance for children, the launch of the CMCita comic-educational book and digital banner on the CMC website.

For the development of the activities proposed for the 2021 World Investor Week, the range of international participations is made up of representatives from the counterparts from Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Kenya and South Africa.

For the second consecutive year, the activity is carried out using information technologies, creating concrete opportunities to disseminate knowledge across borders and promote cooperation between IOSCO members.
