Doha - Angola celebrates its National Day at Expo Doha 2023 on Sunday, in a ceremony in which the country's delegation is led by the Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho, who has been in the capital of Qatar since Friday.

In addition to the general commissioner of Angola at the Expo, Albina Assis, the event, which will feature interventions by Ana Paula de Carvalho, and a Qatari representative, will be witnessed by the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, João Manuel Bartolomeu da Cunha, and the Angolan ambassador to Qatar, António Coelho Ramos da Cruz, as well as other senior officials from the country.

Following this, a seminar on agriculture and private investment will be held on Monday, and an event called “Coffee Day) on Tuesday.

On Saturday, the Minister of the Environment, accompanied by some members of the Angolan delegation, visited the Angolan Embassy in Qatar, where she received information about its operations.

Angola Pavilion

Located right at the entrance to the Expo space, the Angola pavilion measures 200 square meters.

In his welcome message to the guests, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, states that “The history of humanity records, over time, challenges and opportunities. This is also the case today. Our planet continues to experience rapid population growth, challenging us to achieve more robust and inclusive economic growth.”

He adds that growing in a sustainable way is one of the main challenges of “our generation”.

For the Angolan Head of State, the International Horticultural Exhibition – Expo 2023 Doha constitutes an excellent opportunity to assess the state of the art and perspective the global future based on the trinomial “modern agriculture, technology and innovation and sustainability”.

He states that Angola remains firm in its commitment to sustained economic growth, as well as measures to combat desertification and the effects of drought in the southern region of the country.

“The theme of our pavilion is 'Planting for Life', as a motto for us to continue preparing the land and sowing the seeds of a sustainable future, so that future generations can reap their fruits with confidence in a better world”, he concludes. João Lourenço.
