Lobito - Africa Global Logistics (AGL), manager of the multipurpose terminal at the Port of Lobito (containers and general cargo), wants to develop business in various regions of Angola, the consortium's commercial director Sebastião Faria said on Tuesday.

According to Sebastião Faria, AGL will be looking for logistical solutions for the Lobito Corridor and the Copper belt region in Zambia, where there is a lot of copper ore.

Faria said the consortium has made an investment of 200 million dollars, allocated, among other things, to developing human skills and infrastructure and equipment.

"In terms of results, we expect an increase of 50 percent, but our vision is to have the Port of Lobito as a strategic transshipment platform for minerals, including those from Angola, and the development of the farming industry along the Corridor," Faria said.

He took the opportunity to announce the inauguration of the multipurpose terminal (general and containerized cargo) on Wednesday, an event which will be attended by an executive delegation from the consortium, as well as the Angolan Minister of Transport, Ricardo D' Abreu.

Port of Lobito establishes itself as landlord

The Port of Lobito, as landlord, will henceforth focus on regulating and supervising the activities of operators, its CEO Celso Rosas has said.

Celso Rosa made the statement during the IV Meeting of Port Managers, which is analyzed issues related to the organization and operation of the company, bringing together specialists from different areas.TC/CRB/TED/AMP
