Bouaké – Angola national football team head coach Pedro Gonçalves on Friday said in Bouaké that versatility is one of the aspects he works on with his players, where they have to know what roles to play in different scenarios on the pitch.

"Football games are random by nature and there is a wide variety of behaviors and events that cannot be predicted. We have to be versatile in order to adapt," the coach said.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the encounter with Mauritius on Saturday for group D of the Africa Cup of Nations, Gonçalves said the aim of his team is to win the match.

Pedro Gonçalves pointed out that the scenario for the match against Mauritania at the Peace Stadium is different to that of the opening game against Algeria (1-1), but that the objective of winning is the same.

The coach said he recognizes that in the previous match not everything was good, however not everything was bad either, adding that it was important for the players to be focused and determined.

He pointed out that in the two preparation games all 23 players had minutes on the pitch and that they all count, with the decision on the starting eleven depending on the strategic plan for each match and the specific nature of the opponent.MC/TED/AMP
