Luanda - Angolan sprinter Marco Santos ends his pre-competitive training, in South Africa, next Saturday, with participation in the AGN international athletics Grand Prix, to be held on the track in the city of Pretoria.
Registered only in the 100 and 200m, the athlete from Clube Petro de Luanda and the National Team, 20 years old, seeks direct qualification via the Olympic minimums, which he awards for the 100m (minimum of 10.00) and 200m (20.16), to the Paris2024 Games.
In nine days in South African territory, the Angolan has already broken two national records, the most recent being in the 100m, clocking 10.42, which earned him the bronze medal for the event.
With this record, Marco Santos broke, on Saturday, the mark of 10.49, set by Afonso Ferraz, on the 8th of July 1992, in the city of Maia, in Portugal.
Previously, the Angolan Athletics Federation's (FAA) bid for the Paris2024 Olympic Games, in France, had already surpassed its own record of 21.05, in the 200m, broken on August 23, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary, at the download now for 21.01, also, at the Pretoria Meeting, organized by AGN.
Marco Santos, who returns to the country on March 4th, is one of the runners who will represent the country at the African Games, which will take place from March 8th to 22nd, in Accra, Ghana. JAD/VAB/TED/DOJ
