Luanda - The Interclub Sports Group is celebrating its 48th anniversary this Wednesday and the Ministry of the Interior (sponsor) in the Province of Luanda congratulated the club on their continued promotion and organisation of sporting, recreational and cultural activities.

According to a note to which ANGOP had access, the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) emphasises that throughout its 48 years of existence, the club remained focused on their objectives and to date includes eight sports disciplines, namely football, basketball, handball, athletics, boxing, shooting, cycling and judo.

"Today, the Interclube is one of the most organised sports associations in the country, contributing to the massification of sport, not only within the ranks of the Ministry of the Interior, but on a national scale," reads the statement.

The document signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Eugénio Laborinho, states that MININT recognises the commitment of the organisation's governing bodies, athletes and staff in general to ensure that the work continues to make its motto, "A new era of champions, united by a blue dream", a reality.

Interclube was founded on 28 February 1976 on the initiative of the general commander of the national police (formerly named Angolan People's Police), commissioner Santana André Pitra also known as "Petroff".

Before that, the club was called the "Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo do Corpo da Polícia de Angola (CPA)" (Angolan Police Corps Sports and Recreational Group).

The club's headquarters are in the Rocha Pinto neighbourhood, in the municipality of Luanda.

It has won several trophies, most notably in football, with two in the first division National Football Championship, also dubbed as Girabola (2007 and 2010), three Angolan Cup wins (1986, 2003 and 2011) and the same number of Super Cup (2001, 2008 and 2012).

Regarding infrastructure, it has a football pitch named 22 de Junho stadium, situated in Rocha Pinto, a multi-sports pavilion named 28 de Fevereiro, in the main fire station, in the urban district of Maianga and the shooting range, in the municipality of Belas.
