Luanda – Angola national gymnastics team returned to the country  from Kigali (Rwanda), with 23 medals won at the African Championships held from April 24 to 27.

Speaking to the press, at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, the assistant coach of the national team, Alice Tomás, stated that of the 23 medals, one is gold, two silver and 20 bronze.

Regarding the team's participation in the event, the coach considered it positive due to the results achieved in just two preparation weeks, having assured that the next priority will be the African and Zonal Championships, where the objective is the podium.

Gymnast Luana Gomes won the gold medal and guaranteed her presence at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Angolan, who lives and works in Portugal, performed well in the various stages of the individual final, which even earned her applause from the panel of judges.

Luana Gomes, Aysha Morgado, Elizabeth Mangundo, Florência Missunda, Núria Bumba, Brígida de Gouveia, Jacira Manuel, Domingas Nacutla, Elizabeth Benjamin and Delma Luís.

The group is completed by Ludmila Segunda, Evaldina Severino, Sofia Higino, Abigail de Sousa, Celma Nunda, Leonor Moke, Leontina Daniel and Laurinda Tito.
