Luanda - The Ambassador of Angola to the State of Qatar, António Coelho Ramos da Cruz, made a field visit to the stadium of Al Wakah SC, the club where player Gelson Dala develops.
The objective of the action, according to a communication from the diplomatic representation to which ANGOP had access, on Monday, was to wish the athlete a happy return to work and congratulate him on his performance in the National Team, which competed in CAN`2023, finished in Côte d`Ivoire.
On the occasion, António Coelho da Cruz was awarded a souvenir by the management of the second-placed team in the Football League, with 27 points, behind Al Sadd, with 31 points.
Before the end of the field visit and long dialogue with the second top scorer in the Nations Cup, with four goals (the first was Emilio Nsue, from Equatorial Guinea, with five), the Ambassador and the striker posed for posterity.
27 years old, Gelson Dala is considered one of the best Angolan players today and during the continental competition he was twice elected “man of the match” by CAF.
The first appointment occurred after the match on the 2nd round of the group stage (D), in which Angola beat Mauritania, 3-2.
In that match, the player trained at the 1.º de Agosto school had an exceptional performance, scoring two goals, in the 30th and 50th minutes.
The second distinction occurred in Angola's 3-0 victory against Namibia, in a round of 16 match, played at the Paz Stadium, in Bouaké.
The striker scored with his feet, in the 39th minute, after a cross from Fredy, and with his head, in the 44th minute, again following a pass from the National Team captain.
In this 34th edition of the continental competition, which ended on Sunday, with the consecration of the host Côte d`Ivoire (beat Nigeria 1-0), Gelson Dala was part of the initial 11 of the group stage, and it is expected that he will be nominated again for the 11 ideal at the end of the test.
