Luanda - The chairman of the Clube Escola Desportiva Formigas do Cazenga, Ngouabi Salvador, has been awarded with the medal of Knight of the International Order of Merit by the France President, Emmanuel Macron.

The reception ceremony to be held on November 28 at France’s Embassy in Luanda, the national sports director will receive the recognition, thanks to his contribution to cooperation with institutions and the French State.

Salvador expressed to ANGOP his joy to receive the award , which as he said dignifies the work of his community and all Angolans, adding that it also serves as a great stimulus to continue with the social work and integration of children, through sport.

In 2021, the sports court of the Clube Escola Formigas do Cazenga received a facelift, in addition to staff training, in an initiative of the French Embassy in Angola, sponsored by former NBA star, Tony Parker.

These and other actions resulted from the formal signing of the memorandum of understanding between the French Development Agency and Clube Formigas do Cazenga, French Embassy in Angola and associated companies.

Formiguinhas do Cazenga Project, which includes more than 300 children of the community, in addition to teaching basketball techniques, including academic and citizenship values.

The club includes teams that participate in official and regular Angolan basketball competitions.

The institution has already built several players for high competition, such as Sara Caetano, who plays in France, after training at the Tony Parker Academy, within the scope of the aforementioned socio-educational and cooperation agreement.

The French initiative focus mainly on women's basketball bringing together several projects into one, including the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects, as well as the Tony Parker Academy owned by the former NBA San Antonio Spurs player.VAB/CF/AMP
