Luanda - Angolan sprinter Marcos dos Santos failed to qualify for the 100m final of the Ibero-American Championship in athletics, finishing in 6th place, with a time of 10.51” in the III series of the semi-finals, held in track at the Olympic Center of the University of Mato Grosso (Brazil).
With this performance, the Petro de Luanda athlete, placed on lane nº. 7, thus fails the recommended objective.
AANGOP learned from a source at the Petro club that Marcos dos Santos is handed over to the medical team due to muscle pain, and should, for this reason, miss the 200m match scheduled for today, at 9pm.
The sprinter is the only national representative in the race, where in addition to preparing the African Championship, taking place in June, in Cameroon, he is also looking to reach “Paris 2024” Olympic Games.
Marcos has marked his career with numerous national records, having recently registered the last one in the qualifiers of the African Games, held last March, in Accra (Ghana).
