Luanda - Angola's national junior women's handball team lost 19-24 to Iceland in the first match of group H of the 24th Junior Handball World Cup, which started Wednesday in Macedonia.

In a match that Angola found it very difficult to play their characteristic game, the team reacted in such a way that they were level on nine goals at half-time.

In the second half, coach Jose Chuma made more use of his players and evened up the game, but in the last six minutes the Icelanders went on the counter-attack, resulting in a final lead of 24 -19.

Angola faces USA on Friday for the second match of group H.

Angola seeks to improve the sixth-place finish at the 2022 edition in Slovenia. WR/MC/AMP
