Luanda - With 29 medals, including five gold, the same number of silver and 19 bronze, the National Senior Judo Team, both male and female, won the African OPEN, which ended Sunday in Luanda.
The athletes Edmilson Pedro (-66 kg), Barros Leonardo (-60 kg), More Rodrigues (+78 kg), Wilson Afonso (-81 kg) and Diassonema Neide (-63 kg), each won a gold medal.
Marcelo Pedro (-60 kg), António Candiero (-73 kg), Adriano Tchessende (-90 kg), Naya Santos (+78 kg) and Andreza António (-57 kg), each won a silver medal.
Nineteen athletes won bronze medal, among whom are Júlio Salvador (-60 kg), Hélder Miguel, Leonardo André (-66 kg), Antunes Vunge (-81 kg), Nega Silva, Manuel Camoni (-90 kg), Sílvio Mateus and Dário António (-100 kg), Poster da Silva (+100 kg), Vânia Gabriel, Meiry Magalhães (-48 kg), Jeovana Freire (57 kg), Domingas Jaime, Crismila Alberto (-63 kg), Maria Niangi (-70 kg), Fátima César, Aicha Rebeca (-78 kg), Joaquina Silva and Garibaldina Bediente (+78 kg).
The national judo team overcame Senegal the runner-up, which won three gold medals, two silver and four bronze, as well as Ivory Coast that came in third place by winning two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze.
The Senior Judo competition African Open was preceded by the Junior African Cup which was also won by Angolan athletes.
The next edition is scheduled to take place in Abidjan, the economic capital city of Ivory Coast, in June this year.
