Luanda – The National Roller Hockey Teams, senior and junior, beat the South African teams on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, in the game of the second round of the African Championship in both categories.
At senior level, Angola beat South Africa 12-1, while in junior under-19 the team beat South Africa 13-1.
On Tuesday, in the opening round of the continental competition, the Angolan senior and junior teams got administrative wins over the respective Mozambican squads due to absence of the latter, who withdrew from the championship that runs until the 26th of August.
After these two challenges, on Thursday the senior Angolan team will play Egypt to defend their African title won in 2019, in Luanda.
This second edition of the African Championship serves to qualify for the World Cup.
The Angolan delegation is made up of the president of the Angolan Roller Hockey Federation (FAP), Dionísion Viegas, assisted by the vice-president of the Federation for the sport sector, Orlando Graça.
The aforementioned delegation was also received in audience by the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Nelson Cosme, who guaranteed support for them to have a dignified participation.
