Luanda – Angola beat Rwanda 2-1, in disputes of two singles and one pair, on Saturday in Luanda, in the closure of the Davis Cup in Tennis for the Africa Group IV, a competition that took place in the Villas Club Kikuxi Academy, in Viana, Luanda Province.
The competition of pairs ended up in draw that actually was more favourable to the host team.
In regard to the final classification, Angola finished in the third position, while Senegal came top followed by Algeria. In view of such results the last two squads ascend to Group III, while Angola failedto achieve the objective, thus remaining in Group IV.
The competition had the participation of male teams from Angola, Algeria, Burundi, Cameroon, Kenya, DR Congo, Rwanda and Senegal, and was part of the schedule of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), with Angola hosting it for the first time.
The opening of the event, on Wednesday, was chaired by the minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão. VAB/MC/jmc
