Luanda - The senior women's handball teams of Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto are the main candidates for the title in the 44th Edition of the African Champion Clubs Cup, taking place from September 28th to October 7th, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

1º de Agosto (title holders) seek to win its 7th trophy in this competition, while Petro de Luanda try to win their 20th cup and consolidate their leadership in the ranking of champion clubs.

The race, which has been contested since 1979, had a break in 2020 and 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the last edition played in Hammamet (Tunisia), the Angolan final ended in favor for 1º de Agosto, 29 -24.

The two teams will only start competing on the 29th, with 1º de Agosto being in group A, making their debut against Nziko from Cameroon. They will face Grain de Sel from Congo and Al Ahly from Egypt in the following rounds.

Petro, for their part, will face on the same day, but for series B, FAP from Cameroon, followed by Bandama from Côte d’Ivoire and DGSP from Congo.
