Luanda – Angolan Vice President of Republic Bornito de Sousa discussed Friday with the environmentalists the implementation of a mangrove reforestation project along the Angolan sea coast.
Bornito de Sousa launched the challenge during the African Union meeting on strengthening States' commitment to the conservation and improvement of mangroves on the African coast.
The Vice President wants environmentalists to engage in planting one million mangroves along the coast by December 2021.
According to the leader of the Otchiva Project, Fernanda Renée Samuel, environmentalists accepted the challenge launched by Vice President on reforest the sea coast and ensure the preservation of the mangrove nurseries.
In order to ensure the success of the project, the environmentalist called for the involvement of sectors.
They include Education, Spatial Planning, Social Action, Territorial Administration, Defence and Security, to work on preservation of nature, protection of fauna and flora and in combating the harmful effects of climate change.
