Malanje - Twenty five billion kwanzas (roughly US$29.7 million) is the amount made available by the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), to finance 3,086 family farming projects in the country, aiming to increase production.

The information was provided yesterday, in Malanje, by the FADA's Executive administrator, Renato Baptista, during the delivery of tractors and motor-cultivators to local agricultural cooperatives, within the scope of the Family Farming Mechanization Program.

He made it known that of the total amount made available, 1.1 billion Kz were allocated to 78 projects in the province of Malanje, of the 91 approved.

He guaranteed continued financing for Malanje producers, taking into account the region's agricultural potential.

Still in the family sector, the manager informed that they continue to finance farmers' community funds across the country, as a strategy to promote production.

In a first phase, he added, 233 cooperatives with community funds were identified, of which 107 have already been financed.

He stated that FADA continues to encourage cooperatives to create community funds, to benefit from financing and increase production and income.

On the other hand, Renato Baptista announced, soon, the financing of 50 agricultural cooperatives managed by women, within the scope of the Projecto Rural Crédito à Mulher (Credit to Rural Women Project), launched this current year's March.

He recalled that this financial product aims to empower this segment of society, which represents over 70% of the family farming workforce.

Regarding the “Agrojovem” credit line, he said that FADA is financing 500 projects by young students from agricultural technical institutes, with whom they signed memorandums.

He also informed that, within the scope of its social responsibility, FADA has created the itinerant motorcycle mechanization school program, in partnership with the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), to train young people in mechanization and preventive maintenance of agricultural equipment.
