Matala – At least 200 farmers from over 43,000 registered by the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries office in Matala municipality, central Huila province, will receive funding of up to 15 million kwanzas from the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) in March.
Each farmer associated in cooperatives, with up to two and a half hectares, will receive 5.5 million kwanzas and those with five will receive 15 million kwanzas.
Speaking to ANGOP, the municipal director of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Bernardo Chicomo, said the process began in October 2023, lasted one month and will last for four years, waiting only for the funds to be allocated.
According to him, the process is currently underway to sign the credit agreements, which will be made available later, with a grace period of one year.
He added that if there were any anomalies in the reimbursement, the beneficiary could be held criminally accountable, having advised fairness and transparency in the receipt and application of the money.
For the current agricultural season, more than 173,000 hectares have been cultivated, with harvests of more than 100,000 different food products expected.
With a land area of 9,065 square kilometers, the municipality of Matala has an estimated population of 355,956 inhabitants. JT/MS/DAN/AMP
