Huambo - The director of the Huambo Economic and Integrated Development Office, Manuel Vitongue, defended Friday the need to modernize the methods and techniques of family farming to promote sustainable production.
Manuel Vitongue spoke of the urgent need to carry out systematic monitoring and the provision of support for agrarian methods to enable peasant families to develop positive practices increasing production and productivity on a larger scale.
He added that despite recent 10 billion AKZ investments made by the local government in the agricultural sector there is the need to double subsidies to agricultural projects undertaken by peasant families.
The Chamber of Commerce controls around 280 companies in the province of Huambo, the majority of which are of agricultural origin.
