Addis Ababa, Aug 27 (EFE) .- The African Union (AU) today condemned the “horrible attacks” committed this Thursday by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS) at the Kabul airport, which, according to the latest count of victims , at least 95 dead.
“The African Union joins the world in prayer and in deep sorrow for the innocent lives lost in yesterday’s horrific terrorist attacks at Kabul airport, which we condemn in the strongest terms,” said the President of the Commission on the UA (secretariat), Moussa Faki Mahamat.
“Terrorism threatens our common humanity everywhere,” added Mahamat, in a message posted on his Twitter account.
The number of deaths in the double suicide attack rose to 95 and the number of injured to 150, an official source assured Efe on Friday, who requested anonymity.
The double suicide attack occurred yesterday after days in which the governments of several countries had warned of the possibility of attacks at the airport, where thousands of people were trying between jostling to access one of the evacuation flights since the taking of the capital Afghanistan by the Taliban on August 15.
This is the first attack of this type since the Taliban took control of the country with the EFE
