Benguela - 1º de Agosto team beat Electro do Lobito 36 - 22 on Monday in the first round of Group B of the 45th National Senior Women's Handball Championship, taking place in the centre-west Benguela Province.
With this victory, 1º de Agosto began to defend their title in this match played at the Arena Acácias Rubras pavilion in the city of Benguela.
Electro do Lobito 's goalkeeper, Eugénia Ernesto, was considered the most valuable player (MVP) of the game.
Speaking to the press at the end of the game, 1º de Agosto´s coach Carlos Viver, said that his team had difficulties in the first half of the game because they struggled to get into their usual defensive system.
He added that thought that in the second half his team was calmer and more solid, they ran more and managed to control the challenge.
In turn, Electro do Lobito's coach, Fernando Luís, said he knew the difficulties they would face against one of the best teams in Angola and Africa, which is why they went into the game very cautious.
He said that the result had no influence on the group's objectives and that they would continue to work to progress to the next round.
